Carnival in Venice – this is one of the most anticipated events of the year for the inhabitants of this ancient city, and tens of thousands of tourists from all over the world. During the celebration serene and serene Venice is freed from any duties and prejudice, becoming one of the most free (in all respects) places on earth. But there is this celebration has its own history and traditions, which we describe in this publication.
The history of the Venetian carnival
The history of the carnival in Venice has its roots in the distant past – in Roman times. OPHELIA, TAPATI, HOLI: THE MOST UNUSUAL FESTIVALS OF THE WORLD
THE PROCESSION OF VIKINGS WITH BURNING TORCHES MARCHING ON THE STREET, TRUMPETING IN A TRADITIONAL MILITARY HORNS… THEN TORCHLIGHT PROCESSION THROUGH THE ANCIENT RITE OF THE BURIAL OF THE DEAD SOLDIERS BURNED THE WOODEN 30-FOOT BOAT, WHICH IS SPECIALLY BUILD FOR THE HOLIDAY EVERY YEAR…SO GOES THE ANNUAL SCOTTISH OPHELIA (UP HELLY AA FESTIVAL) IN THE TOWN OF LERWICK. THIS YEAR AN UNUSUAL EVENT TOOK PLACE ON JANUARY 29.
Over 900 beautifully dressed participants followed the entourage of 40 Vikings and their giant ship to the place where the fire will be lit.
On the coast, the ship burned — 900 torches were thrown on the “ancient” ship.
Another unusual holiday called monkey Banquet (Monkey Buffet) takes place in the province of Lopburi in Thailand. Each year approximately 600 monkeys are invited to the dinner, which consists of a variety of fruits and vegetables.
